Saudi Arabia: We hope that the conflicting parties in Yemen will sit at the negotiating table

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia welcomed the statements of the representative of the United Nations in Yemen about the agreement between the resigned government of Yemen and Ansarullah.

The aforementioned ministry announced: Riyadh emphasizes on continuing to stand by the government and people of Yemen.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry continued: Saudi Arabia hopes that with the agreement reached, the conflicting parties in Yemen will sit at the negotiating table.

The conflicting parties in Yemen, in April 2023, the parties signed a prisoner exchange deal for the release of 900 captives with the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations after bilateral negotiations in Switzerland.

A new round of negotiations between the resigned government of Yemen and the National Salvation Government of Yemen based in Sana’a was held in Muscat (the capital of Oman) regarding the case of prisoners under the supervision of the United Nations.

Since 2015, Yemen has been facing a humanitarian crisis due to the continued blockade of the Arab coalition, which has caused thousands of Yemeni people to be killed or injured, and millions of people are at risk of starvation and death.
