Khalid Al-Amer, a political analyst, said in an interview with Al-Ahed news website that the United States is following the Zionists’ aggression in Gaza and severe insecurity in Lebanon. , does not intend to leave the area. This is what made the United States use the recent ISIS operations in Syria and Iraq as an excuse to stay in the region.

This political analyst further added that the continuous activity of ISIS in the recent period and the increase in its aggression against Syrian positions and civilians emphasizes that Washington wants to position itself for a prepares the political decision to stay in Iraq and Syria, therefore it provides all logistical and military facilities to ISIS through Al-Tanf base, and they are heliborne to the desired areas for attacks against the Syrian army.

But on the other hand, the areas of presence and operations of this group show that ISIS receives a large military and intelligence support from America.

This group is present in the Syrian desert from Palmyra to the Syrian border with Jordan and Iraq, which also includes the Al-Tanf American base. This base creates a type of no-fly zone with a radius of 55 kilometers, and therefore, this group has placed its elements’ concentration points in this desert and is under the protection umbrella of the Americans.

The area where ISIS is present has been chosen as a threat to the communication arteries of Syria with Iraq and Iran. Walid Saleh emphasized in an interview with the Ahed website that the operations of this group have always decreased after 2019 and the lowest level of these operations will be in 2022 and It was 2023, but with the beginning of 2024, their activities in Syria and Iraq increased, so that these operations in Syria reached about 150 operations in the first quarter of 2024. The operations of this group have been targeting the convoys of the Syrian army and attacking the concentration points of the Syrian army and its allies; Also, this group targets oil convoys with the aim of creating economic pressure on Syria to create terror among the people. It is not possible to carry out these operations except with the support of American intelligence, but ISIS has not yet been able to take control of any geographical area.

This military expert pointed out that although the reason for the increase in the volume of operations is due to the morale of the elements of this group as well as the receipt of human and financial support, so that ISIS can prove that it is still an important player in is the arena; But the main reason for the increase in these terrorist acts is the Al-Aqsa storm operation, which brought the Israeli army to a standstill and caused it to endure a lot of pressure from the Lebanese front.
