California collects homeless tents from urban areas
California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order that will demolish the tents of thousands of homeless people across the state, which has one of the highest housing costs.
According to the New York Times, Newsom, a Democrat, urged state officials to act urgently. His executive order could divide state officials, who, while some are already planning to tear down homeless tents, others see the problem as too complex to be solved by such inhumane measures.
This decision was also taken while the Republicans, especially during the election campaigns, have always attributed the problem of homelessness and the ugly face of California to the wrong management of “Newsom” and other Democrats.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that more than 181,000 people will experience homelessness in the state of California in 2023, which is 12% of the entire nation’s population.
