Statement by Australia, Canada and New Zealand to protect civilians in Gaza
The governments of Australia, Canada and New Zealand issued a statement about the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, announcing that “the situation in Gaza is catastrophic”.
A part of this statement reads: “Human suffering is unacceptable.” It cannot continue.”
This statement condemned the October 7 attack by Hamas on the occupied territories and asked this group to lay down its weapons and release all Israeli prisoners, but asked Israel to “listen to the concerns of the international community”!
The three governments said in their statement, “The protection of civilians is necessary according to international humanitarian law. Palestinian civilians cannot pay for the defeat of Hamas. It must end.”
At the end of this statement it is stated that “an immediate ceasefire is urgently needed.” “Civilians must be protected, and a continued increase in aid flows across Gaza is needed to address the humanitarian situation.”
