UNRWA: More than ever, we need political and financial support

Antonia Marie de Meo, Deputy Commissioner General of UNRWA emphasized at the UN Security Council meeting that the agency needs financial and political support now more than ever and until a political solution is reached regarding Gaza, UNRWA It should continue to serve the Palestinian people.

According to Al Jazeera, this UN official added that any political solution must also end the distressing situation of the Palestinian refugees. 

Algeria: Gaza children’s dreams were destroyed because of Israel’s occupation

The representative of Algeria in the Security Council demanded the opening of Gaza crossings, including the Rafah crossing, so that humanitarian aid can enter the besieged strip. He also called Israel’s current action “collective punishment of the people of Gaza”, which is considered a war crime according to international law. The representative of Algeria emphasized that Israel is responsible for the great suffering of the people of Gaza and the destruction of the dreams of the children of this region, who are struggling with the brutality of the invaders at a young age. 

This Algerian official also pointed to the lack of water supply services and warned that the lack of water will cause the emergence of new epidemics and the occurrence of an “absolute disaster”.

China: The red lines of international law have been repeatedly crossed in Gaza

The representative of China in the Security Council said that the war against Gaza has been going on for more than 9 months and has created an “unprecedented” human catastrophe. The Chinese official warned: “The red lines of international law and human rights have been repeatedly violated in Gaza, and we ask Israel to stop military operations in Gaza.” China further asked America to put pressure on Tel Aviv to end the war in Gaza.

Today’s meeting was held by Russia, China and Algeria to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The number of martyrs of the war against Gaza has reached nearly 40,000 people in 9 months, and at the same time, numerous warnings are issued regarding the spread of various diseases in Gaza. The World Health Organization says that many of these diseases are preventable and are caused by a lack of water and sanitation facilities. The Zionist regime is purposefully destroying Gaza’s water supply facilities and has reduced clean water in this region by 90%.
