The conversation between Biden and the King of Jordan about the Gaza ceasefire
U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan on Friday evening about the Gaza crisis and efforts to establish a ceasefire.
According to the White House, the US president briefed King Abdullah on ongoing efforts to secure the release of Israeli prisoners and establish a ceasefire, along with plans to increase humanitarian aid during the ceasefire period. During their conversation, the two sides discussed the situation in the West Bank.
Biden emphasized his commitment to strengthening the Palestinian Authority by ensuring that it has the necessary revenues to support the Palestinian people.
After talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Joe Biden in Washington, US national security spokesman John Kirby said that both sides must make mutual concessions to achieve peace in Gaza. He said: We must reach a ceasefire as soon as possible. Now we are closer than ever. Both sides must compromise.
According to the Israeli media, this deal will include a phased exchange of prisoners between the two sides of the conflict. In the second phase, Israeli female soldiers are supposed to be released from Hamas captivity. In response, the Israeli army is ready to withdraw from a number of areas in Gaza and ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid in the region.
