Sending one million doses of polio vaccine to Gaza

From CNN, the World Health Organization is sending more than one million doses of polio vaccine to Gaza after finding evidence of the highly contagious polio virus in the Gaza Strip’s water and sewage system.

Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, said: Although no cases of polio have been registered in Gaza so far, without immediate action, its spread among thousands of children who are left unprotected is certain.

He added that children under the age of five, especially infants, are more at risk, as many of them have not been vaccinated during the nearly 10-month conflict.

Earlier, the Gaza Ministry of Health called the existence of polio virus in the water and sewage system of this strip a health disaster and warned against its spread.

In this regard, the Zionist Radio and Television Organization reported that the Ministry of Health of this regime advised the army to vaccinate its soldiers against the polio virus due to the spread of this virus in Gaza.

Many times before, human rights organizations and institutions had warned about the spread of infectious diseases in Gaza due to the siege, lack of clean water and the health system damaged by the attacks of the Zionist regime.

According to the statistics of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, the number of martyrs of the war against Gaza has increased to 39 thousand 175 people and the number of injured people has increased to 90 thousand 403 people since October 7th (15th October 1402). More than 10,000 people are still missing and under the rubble in the Gaza Strip.

The Zionist regime has closed the crossings of the Gaza Strip and is bombarding this area in order to retaliate against the “Al-Aqsa Storm” attacks, compensate for its defeat and stop the resistance operations. These crimes caused Tel Aviv officials to be presented to the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide”.
