Criticism of more than 75 American organizations on Washington’s support for the Zionist regime
A few days after the racist, divisive and warmongering speech of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, in the joint session of Congress, more than 75 organizations published a statement and asked President Joe Biden. America and Congress wanted to impose an immediate arms embargo against the cabinet of the Zionist regime.
These groups wrote in a letter addressed to the US Congress and Joe Biden: “Stopping the transfer and sale of weapons is the first step towards building a future in which all people living on earth can live in security, equality, freedom and justice. do We, the human rights, civil rights and social justice organizations who signed this letter, ask you to implement an immediate arms embargo against Israel in order to save human lives.
In the continuation of this letter, it is also stated: “The US Congress welcomed the Prime Minister of Israel, while he and the Zionist regime are facing international investigations for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.” This speech was a direct insult to the values and principles of human rights, freedom and democracy
In this letter addressed to Congress and Biden, it is also written: “Netanyahu has used the support and weapons of the United States to kill nearly 40,000 Palestinians, including 15,000 children, in Gaza, and has destroyed an entire generation of Palestinian families in Gaza. Not only will it destroy hospitals, bakeries, schools, churches, mosques, universities, refugee camps, and homes, but Gaza’s entire health care system and entire neighborhoods will be destroyed. Following Israel’s siege, Palestinian children are dying of hunger and Gaza is on the brink of a full-scale famine. To save human lives, we must stop sending bombs and warplanes to the Israeli army.”
This letter also states: “The Zionist regime has clearly shown that it does not respond to warnings and serious words. Our government must now put tangible and material pressure on Israel. The United Nations and human rights groups such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International are all calling on countries to impose an arms embargo to stop these crimes. An arms embargo is necessary not only to uphold international law, but also our own United States law and to send a clear message that the United States will not support Israel’s policies of collective punishment against the Palestinian people.”
Furthermore, as the cost of living rises and inflation strains American families, we must increase funding for housing, health care, Let’s prioritize caring for children, schools and jobs, not weapons and bombs for Netanyahu’s war crimes. Allocating billions of weapons budgets for the Zionist regime that commits human rights violations is a betrayal of the needs of our own communities. “It is time to direct our resources to building a better future at home instead of supporting violence abroad.”
These groups further emphasized: “The only way to achieve a lasting ceasefire, including the release of all Israeli and Palestinian prisoners, is for the United States to put pressure on the Netanyahu regime by ending the flow of arms to Israel.” We cannot claim to be working for peace and at the same time send weapons that enable crimes. Therefore, we call on you to immediately stop the sale, transfer and shipment of all further weapons to Israel. This is the first step towards building a future where all people on earth can live in security, equality, freedom and justice.”
Among the signatories of this protest letter are “Veterans Against War”, “Justice Project”, “American Federation of Ramallah Palestine”, “American Friends Service Committee”, “American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee”, “American Action for Justice in Palestine”, “Arab American Civic Council”, “Brooklyn for Peace”, “Campaign Against the Arms Trade”, “Constitutional Rights Center”, “Jewish Anti-Violence Center”, “Advocate for Children International – Palestine”, “Doctors Against Genocide”, “Jewish Voice Action for Peace” and “US Palestinian Community Network”.
