Mersheimer: All the weapons that the West gives to Ukraine will be neutralized by Russia

John Mersheimer, an American political scientist, said in an interview with Daniel Davis’ YouTube channel DeepDive: “All the weapons that the West gives to Ukraine will be neutralized by the Russian army.”

This American expert said: “We (the United States) give Ukraine advanced modern weapons, and then the Russians neutralize and destroy this weapon.”

According to Mersheimer, a similar situation will be repeated with the American F-16 fighters. He pointed out that the transfer of these planes to Kiev will not change the situation of the battlefield in any way due to the lack of qualified pilots and the powerful air defense of the Russian army.

This expert on political issues added: “We are talking here about the most powerful ground-based air defense in the world, if these fighters get close to the Russian air defense, it will be torn to pieces.”

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the US and its allies will send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine this summer. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, for his part, noted that the United States and NATO satellites carry the risk of a direct armed conflict with Russia, which is fraught with disastrous consequences. According to him, the fact that Kiev has F-16 fighters capable of carrying nuclear weapons will be considered by Russia as a threat from the West in the nuclear field.

Russia believes that sending weapons to Ukraine interferes with peace, involves NATO countries directly in the conflict and is “playing with fire”. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any shipment containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in England, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Kremlin announced that pumping Ukraine with Western weapons will not help the negotiations and will have a negative effect.
