Harris’s criticism of Israel will not harm the Gaza peace talks

The US vice president's office announced that his criticism of Israel will not harm the Gaza peace talks.

The office of Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States and possible candidate for the Democratic Party in the US presidential elections, announced that her criticism of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip will not harm the peace talks.

After meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Thursday, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said Wood “will not remain silent” about the “suffering” in Gaza.

Harris’s statements, which had a sharp and serious tone, reflect the possible change in America’s behavior towards Netanyahu after the presidency of Joe Biden.

At the same time, Harris told reporters that “Israel has the right to defend itself and how it is done is important.” He said that he assured Netanyahu that he would support Israel and called for an end to this war.

Reacting to these statements, a senior Israeli official told The Times of Israel that Harris’s words “could complicate peace talks.”

However, an aide to the vice president said, “Vice President Harris’ office denied the allegation that the vice president’s words could have made it more difficult to reach a ceasefire.”

The administration of the current US president admits that tensions may arise in the coming weeks regarding Harris’s comments on the issue of the war in the Gaza Strip. The US vice president has repeatedly supported more pressure on Israel and sanctions against Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
