American senator admits that Netanyahu’s speech in Congress was wrong

An American senator admitted that it was a mistake to invite Netanyahu to address the Congress and he used this American institution for himself.

American Senator Chris Van Hollen said that it is a mistake for Democrats to support Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress.

According to al-Quds al-Arabi, in response to the question whether the support of the Democrats for this meeting was a mistake, Holen said: Yes, it was a mistake to support him and I expressed this opinion.

Van Hollen is one of the most prominent critics of the occupation regime and America’s support for it. He was among several Democratic lawmakers who chose not to attend Netanyahu’s speech, and in a speech he gave in the House of Representatives earlier this month, he said that inviting Netanyahu to the Capitol sent a terrible message to the world.

Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress last week. The speech was opposed by several Democratic lawmakers and activists in Washington, DC, who protested outside the Capitol building against his visit.

Van Hollen also said that Netanyahu used Congress as a “lynchpin” in his speech. He explained in this regard: I believe that Netanyahu achieved his goal of using Congress as a pillar to strengthen support for Israel, especially among extremists. Ben Goyer and Smotrich were the ones who welcomed Netanyahu’s speech.

Unlike this American senator, most of the congressional senators welcomed Netanyahu and clapped for 22 minutes for his explanation about the crime against the people of Gaza.
