Cyprus: We are ready to evacuate foreign citizens from the Middle East
The intensification of tensions between Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Zionist regime has caused international concerns about the spread of conflicts to other regions in the West Asia. Now, many European and Western countries have asked their citizens not to travel to Lebanon and the occupied territories.
According to Al Jazeera, the Foreign Minister of Cyprus Constantinos Kombos announced today (Monday) that his country is ready to evacuate foreign citizens from the West Asia in case of escalation of tensions between Hezbollah and the Zionist regime.
He said in a conversation with the media: since the beginning of the war, the Cypriot authorities have put an emergency response mechanism on the agenda for the possible evacuation of civilians from the West Asia. We have determined the method by which we will activate this mechanism if needed.
Referring to the escalation of tensions in the West Asia, Kombos added: We hope that we will never need to implement this mechanism, but Cyprus will be ready to be a safe bridge to facilitate the evacuation of civilians from conflict areas.
Although the Zionist regime has threatened to organize a massive attack on Lebanese soil, American officials have pressured Tel Aviv to avoid escalating tensions in the region and spreading the conflict to other regions.
