Switzerland has refused to receive income from Russian assets
Berne announced that he will not generate income from the assets of the Russian Federation and will not use them for the needs of Ukraine, like the EU countries.
Switzerland pledged that according to the country’s laws and international obligations, it has no right to receive any special income related to the assets of the Russian bank.
After Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the United States and the European Union banned transactions with the Russian Central Bank and Ministry of Finance and froze about 300 billion dollars of Moscow’s assets in the West. The European Union announced some time ago that it intends to give Ukraine the profit from the blocking of these properties.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell recently announced that the first tranche of profits from Russia’s frozen assets, totaling around 1.4 billion euros, will be sent to Kiev in the first week of August to finance arms purchases.
