How serious is Erdogan’s line against Tel Aviv?
Mehr News Agency, Intergroup The International- Azar Mahdovan: Many people know Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the president of Turkey, as a politician whose behavior and speech in the political arena have had contradictions. He once addressed Greece with the phrase “We will come suddenly at night” to threaten this country with war with this kind of literature, but tomorrow he will meet with the Prime Minister of this country!
Sometimes he threatens to close Korjik and Engirlik bases and criticizes America and calls this government the defender of terrorists, but tomorrow he sincerely shakes the hand of the president of this country.
In the Gaza issue, Erdogan’s contradictions have become more pronounced. Before the Gaza war, Turkey had not reached a stable situation in its political relations with the Zionist regime, but its trade relations were at the most favorable level possible, to the point where Turkey’s exports to the occupied territories reached one billion and 65 million dollars. This favorable level of business is not only related to last year, this trend continued for years; That is, after the verbal tension between Erdoğan and Shimon Peres, the prime minister of the Zionist regime in support of Palestine in 2009, which is known as the “one minute” event. At the same time, we witnessed extensive economic relations in the most normal possible form.
However, with the beginning of the Gaza war, Erdogan announced his support for the Palestinian people and for a while blamed only Netanyahu personally for the killing of Gaza, even though Netanyahu’s thinking is a reflection of the Zionist regime’s policy. But despite all these criticisms, business relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv continued in the best possible way. This issue also became the basis for Turkish society’s criticism of Erdogan.
In his latest comment, Erdogan addressed the Zionist regime and said: We may enter Palestine just as we entered Karabakh and Libya.
Erdogan’s speech, like many of his speeches, is only a threat and is unlikely to have a practical aspect; Erdogan is a master orator and for years he has been able to attract the attention of traditional Turkish fans in his meetings with this type of literature.
If the Ankara government really intends to cut off the hand of the Zionist regime in the region and reach the cry of the people of Gaza, there is no need to enter the occupied territories. Instead, it is enough to follow these 3 suggested actions:
1. Close the Korjik and Engirlik base, which is apparently a place of NATO military activity, but in reality has become an intelligence base of the Zionist regime. This is also the request of the Turkish society, and in this regard, we have seen public protests in front of this military site many times.
2. While Azerbaijan’s oil exports to Israel continue through Turkey (Ceyhan port), it is appropriate for Turkey to prevent this export and turn a blind eye to its income. In this regard, it is worth remembering that on July 20, the cargo ship Altai was diverted to Amman from Haifa port, and Turkey needs to provide a convincing explanation to the domestic and international public opinion.
3. It has been heard that Türkiye’s exports to the occupied territories through third countries are still continuing. This kind of trade is not particularly different from direct trade, and it is better for Ankara to take the necessary steps to stop direct and indirect trade with the Zionist regime.
