Fidan: Assad and Erdogan may meet in a third country

The Turkish Foreign Minister announced the possibility of a meeting between the presidents of Syria and Türkiye in another country.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Sputnik, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in an interview with the Turkish newspaper “Sabah” that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Bashar Assad may “President of Syria should meet and discuss with each other in another country.

Fidan pointed out that the dialogue with the Syrian authorities about the place and time of the possible meeting between Assad and Erdogan is continuing and added: If the meeting takes place, it will be in a third country. but its details are still unknown.

The Turkish Foreign Minister also claimed that the Syrian side is ready to meet with the Turkish side without any preconditions.

At the same time, Fidan said: Compromise with the Syrian opposition is the duty of the Syrian authorities, and Ankara encourages Damascus to carry out these talks. Ankara cannot force them to compromise. It is impossible to reach an agreement with Damascus and ignore the opposition.

In the end, he said: Syrian authorities should hold talks with the opposition so that consultations can begin regarding the solution to the problems.
