Anti-government protests continue in Bangladesh/ 300 people were killed

Medical and security sources in Bangladesh announced that the number of dead in street clashes has reached 300 people.

According to Mehr News Agency, AFP quoted medical and security sources as saying that after 94 people were killed on Sunday, which was the bloodiest day in recent weeks of anti-government protests, the total number of people killed in clashes in Bangladesh has reached at least 300.

In recent weeks, the streets of Bangladeshi cities have been the scene of clashes between protesters and military and security forces in protest against the policies of the Prime Minister of this country.

According to “Jamuna TV”, the protesters with the support of the main opposition party of this country’s government, the “Nationalist Party”, have clashed with the police and the activists of the ruling party, the “Awami League”.

Following the outbreak and continuation of these unrest, the government of Bangladesh has once again imposed curfew and the internet has been cut off throughout the country.

It is said that in the Uttara district of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, police officers used tear gas to disperse hundreds of people who blocked an important intersection.

Eyewitnesses also reported that during the riots in the city of Munshiganj, 2 construction workers were killed by a bomb explosion and 30 others were injured.

Student protests in Bangladesh began in early July 2024.

This country of 170 million people, located in South Asia, has been in chaos for the last three weeks following student protests against quotas for government jobs.
