The Indian Foreign Minister also announced that India and Maldives have signed an agreement to introduce India’s integrated payment interface in Maldives.
RuPay cards, India’s payment card system similar to Visa and Mastercard, can be used for Indian rupee transactions in the Maldives and payments, according to the Indian Foreign Minister. make it easier for tourists.
This was the first visit of the Indian foreign minister to the Maldives since relations between the two countries soured earlier this year. The relations between the two sides have turned dark since the new Maldivian government led by Mohammad Muizou.
