China and Iran are important strategic partners

– How do you evaluate the prospects of the development of relations between Iran and China during the presidency of Masoud Mezijian?
China and Iran are important strategic partners for each other and our current cooperation has a good rhythm. China has been Iran’s biggest trading partner for many years. In July of this year, Iran-China double cargo container train was operational and launched, and this project strengthens the cooperation between the two countries in the field of transportation and cargo transportation. Beijing has also opened a “green channel” for the import of Iranian agricultural products to China. Tangerines, apples, honey, white shrimp, fish strips and many Iranian products have become increasingly popular among Chinese consumers. There are many milestones in the cultural exchanges and interactions between China and Iran in various sectors such as culture, education, media and local cooperation, which also improves mutual understanding and cooperation between the people of the two countries. People-to-people exchanges between China and Iran have also become very close. Our embassy continues to facilitate the issuance of visas, and at this time, Iranian applicants can apply for visas without an appointment, and as a result, the satisfaction rate of this procedure has been more than 97.6.
Not long ago, the third general meeting of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was successfully held in Beijing. This meeting sent a firm message about China’s firm commitment to reforms and welcoming the new era, and China’s general plan was formulated to deepen China’s reforms and progress and modernization in all fronts. In the next stage, China will uniformly increase the level of cooperation with the countries of the world in the fields of trade, investment, industry and other sectors, and will share more development opportunities with countries around the world, including Iran.
China, in line with the continuation of Beijing and Tehran’s firm support for each other in issues related to the main interests of the parties, the uniform advancement of practical cooperation in various fields, the continuous expansion of constructive bilateral relations, the greater benefit of the people of the two countries, and adding new content to the comprehensive strategic partnership Between Iran and China, it is ready to cooperate with the new government of Iran.
Iran is a new member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. What are the fields of joint cooperation between Iran and China within the framework of this organization?
China and Iran are both important and developing countries and both adhere to true multilateralism. After successfully joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which happened a year ago, Iran has actively participated in various fields of cooperation under the framework of this organization and has achieved beneficial results. Iran’s joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has injected new dynamism and vitality into it, which is in line with the expectations of the international community and the common interests of emerging markets and developing countries.
After the Astana summit, China has assumed the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2024-2025. Beijing is ready to cooperate with Iran and other partners of the Shanghai Organization with the approach of “a society with a common future for humanity”, the development of comprehensive cooperation, active participation in world governance, and the advancement of development, security and global culture plans, in order to strengthen the organization’s powers. Shanghai’s cooperation will contribute more to the establishment of sustainable peace and global prosperity. We welcome Iran’s active participation in the events hosted by China as the chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which strengthens this new international organization.
– What is China’s position regarding the Zionist regime’s war against the Gaza Strip, which has been going on for more than 10 months?
The issue of Palestine is at the center of the issues of the Middle East. China has never had any personal interest in the Palestinian issue and is among the first countries to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization and the independent state of Palestine. China has always firmly supported the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national rights. We value equality and defend justice.
The more inflamed the situation in the Middle East, the more critical the efforts of the international community to quell and de-escalate tensions. Currently, the war in Gaza is prolonged and its consequences are still spreading, and several regional wars are intertwined.
Right now, the important and fundamental issue is that the international community should join the (peace-supporting) forces and encourage the warring parties to definitively implement the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and create conditions for the immediate realization of a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza. It is particularly important to emphasize that Israel must pay attention to the request of the international community, immediately end hostile actions, do not fail to protect civilians, and avoid escalating tensions in the region.
