The Prime Minister of Lebanon welcomed the extension of UNIFIL’s mission
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Al-Nashrah, Prime Minister “Najib Miqati” of the Government of Lebanon has asked the members of the United Nations Security Council to extend the temporary mission of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces (UNIFIL) in Lebanon for one year. appreciated.
Miqati considered this decision in line with the highest interests of Lebanon and said: “The extension of UNIFIL’s mission is necessary to protect stability in southern Lebanon.”
The prime minister of the Lebanese government emphasized: Lebanon is committed to strong cooperation with UNIFIL to face the challenges and threats that exist against establishing stability in the southern regions. Also, we once again declare our commitment to the implementation of relevant international resolutions, and at the top of them, Resolution No. 1701 of the United Nations Security Council.
A little while ago, the news media reported that the UN Security Council has adopted a new decision regarding the UN peacekeeping forces known as UNIFIL in Lebanon.
