During this visit, he also talked about various issues such as bilateral relations between Iran and Brazil, cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the BRICS organization and the latest regional developments, especially the Gaza war withMehr reporter had an interview, which you can read in detail here;
The current trade volume between Iran and Brazil is about 5 billion dollars. What potential do you see to increase this number and what opportunities and challenges may arise in this way?
With the presence of Lula da Silva as the president of Brazil, good relations with Iran The level of the previous two terms when he was in charge of the presidency has returned and now Iran is a member of BRICS. Our Vice President, Geraldo Alkman, attended the inauguration of the President of Physicians, who is also a physician. Very good negotiations took place between them. During this visit, he held several meetings to discuss the resumption of high-level bilateral meetings and the next meeting of the Economic and Trade Commission of the two countries.
Soon, there will be an agricultural counselor at the Brazilian embassy who – along with his Iranian counterparts – will work to resolve the health issues that have unnecessarily disrupted part of our bilateral trade. will help Therefore, the trade between the two countries will definitely increase more. The challenges, in addition to what was mentioned, are related to the situation in the Middle East and other factors that cause uncertainty and difficulty in planning our bilateral meetings.
Mr. Geraldo Alkman, the Vice President of Brazil, recently met with Dr. Masoud Al-Badishian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran. How do you evaluate the future of relations between Iran and Brazil during the presidency of the doctors?
Geraldo Alcman was the highest Brazilian official who visited Iran since Lula da Silva’s visit in 2010. . Abbas Araghchi, the new foreign minister of Iran, was also present at that meeting between Alkman and the doctors, which was held with the presence of Bagheri Keni, the former foreign minister of Iran. I got to know Mr. Araghchi, who was the political secretary of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at that time, during the Brazil-Iran political dialogue sessions that were held in Brazil last year. Brazil, Turkey and Iran had serious talks about it in the past and achieved successful results, which were unfortunately boycotted by the big powers. We will celebrate our national day in Brazil in early September and we hope that the officials of the former and current government of Iran will participate in this celebration to continue and strengthen the good relations with us.
The relationship between Iran and Brazil is more than 120 years old. To what extent do you think current relations reflect this historical background and what concrete steps can be taken to further deepen and expand these relations?
Resuming level visits The above will be very important as we intend to review all aspects of our relationships in existing and new groups that will be created to address specific issues. Including the parliamentary diplomacy that we want to resume as soon as possible and we are currently discussing with the members of the Iranian parliament. Cooperation between law offices in our countries, cultural exchanges, media cooperation, etc. will also be important. We need to get to know each other better because it is important to create new and mutually beneficial links and opportunities to strengthen relationships.
Your Background It shows a great emphasis on cultural issues and relations. Considering the important role of the media in creating mutual understanding, why do you think media cooperation between Iran and Brazil has been low so far? What initiatives do you foresee to strengthen this aspect of bilateral relations?
In this context, I can mention the project that we have with the Embassy of Portugal and Allameh Tabatabai University to create a Portuguese language course in Iran. I should mention and encourage Iranians to learn more about Brazil and our culture and vice versa.
On our national day celebration, national anthems will be performed by Iranian children, capoeira (Brazilian martial art) will probably be performed by Iranians, Brazilian food and local drinks and many other cultural initiatives. Related to photography and Iranian tiles exhibitions, book translation and other such things will be held. Contacts and cooperation between the press of the two countries will be another interesting project that should be developed. ? Has Brazil taken diplomatic measures in this regard?
As a result of the Gaza war, relations between Brazil and Tel Aviv have turned cold in recent months. Our ambassador in Tel Aviv was called to Brasilia for consultation; Almost every day we condemn Israel (the Zionist regime) for its crimes in Gaza; We express our anger towards their actions in any multilateral forum, including the International Court of Justice. In the end, let me express my opinion that religion should be the factor of unity, not division and difference between countries, especially among monotheistic countries where the majority of their population are followers of divine religions.
