The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a statement: We have always emphasized that the increase in the movements of NATO military forces and its members near the borders of Russia has a provocative nature.

In the continuation of this statement, it is stated: This issue also applies to the deployment of the battalion of the German armed forces to the territory of Lithuania, where the said military base is being built for their accommodation.
