In March last year, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the President of Russia, accusing him of war crimes and the illegal migration of hundreds of Ukrainian children from this country and their transfer to Russia. The Kremlin has strongly denied these accusations and called them influenced by political motives.
This ruling obliges the 124 members of this court, including Mongolia, to arrest Putin and transfer him to The Hague for trial if he enters the territory of these countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced in a statement: We ask the Mongolian authorities to arrest Putin in compliance with the international arrest warrant.
However, in response to the question whether Moscow is not worried about Mongolia’s membership in the International Criminal Court, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: No. There is nothing to worry about. We have wonderful relations with our friends in Mongolia.
