The President of Mongolia welcomed Putin on the red carpet
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Tass, Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Mongolia last night, today in the center of Ulaanbaatar received an official and warm welcome from the President of the host country, Okhnagin Khorlesukh.
Khorlsukh, who had personally invited Putin, welcomed the Russian president in “Sukhbaatar” square, where the building of the main institutions of the Mongolian government is located.
According to TASS, Putin entered Sukhbaatar Square with a car made in Russia (Aurus). The presidents of the two countries met each other on the red carpet.
Putin with Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Orchuk, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Transport Roman Starovit, Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev, Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov, Alex Likhachev, CEO of “Rosatom” company and a number of other Russian officials have visited Ulaanbaatar.
Putin’s visit to Mongolia is important because this country is one of the members of the International Criminal Court. In March last year, this court issued an arrest warrant for the President of Russia, accusing him of war crimes for illegally emigrating hundreds of Ukrainian children from this country and transferring them to Russia. The Kremlin has strongly denied these accusations and called them influenced by political motives.
This ruling obliges 124 members of the International Court of Justice, including Mongolia, to detain Putin and transfer him to The Hague for trial if he enters their country. After learning about Putin’s visit to Ulaanbaatar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine asked the Mongolian authorities to arrest him in accordance with the international arrest warrant!
