Putin: Mongolia is a loyal and long-standing ally of Russia

The Russian president, who left for Mongolia on an official visit and is currently in this country, described Mongolia as a long-standing friend and ally of Moscow.

reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Tass, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the country a friend and ally of Russia in a meeting with Dashzegvin Amarbayasgalan, speaker of the Mongolian Parliament.

Putin said in this meeting: I am very happy to be in Mongolia, which is our friend, and to celebrate our joint victory in the Battle of Khalkhingol alongside the people of Mongolia.

He added: Mongolia became a very loyal and reliable ally of the Soviet Union and Russia in the fight against Nazism and militarism. Russia and Mongolia have maintained very close and friendly relations for decades, and these relations are growing successfully today.

According to Putin, interaction between the two countries through the parliament is very important. He emphasized: In today’s world, the contact and interaction between the executive forces helps to develop relations.

Putin’s visit to Mongolia is important because this country is one of the members of the International Criminal Court. In March last year, this court issued an arrest warrant for the President of Russia, accusing him of war crimes for illegally emigrating hundreds of Ukrainian children from this country and transferring them to Russia. The Kremlin has strongly denied these accusations and called them influenced by political motives.

This ruling obliges 124 members of the International Court of Justice, including Mongolia, to detain Putin and transfer him to The Hague for trial if he enters their country. After learning about Putin’s visit to Ulaanbaatar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine asked the Mongolian authorities to arrest him in accordance with the international arrest warrant!

Mongolia is a country with a parliamentary system. The prime minister, who is considered the head of the government, holds the main power in the country. The winning party forms the cabinet. The People’s Party of Mongolia has been in power since 2016. Lausen Mesrin Oyun-Erdin is the Prime Minister of this country from 2021. After the victory of Okhnagin Khorlesukh, the president of Mongolia, he succeeded him in the presidential elections.
