6 dead in the new wave of ethnic conflicts in the Indian state of Manipur

A new wave of violence between two rival ethnic groups in northern India has killed at least 6 people.

reported by Manipur authorities have ordered the closure of all schools in the state. After a court in this state last year ordered the local government to review the allocation of special economic benefits and the quota of government and academic jobs between the “Kuki” and “Mihti/Manipuri” tribes and provide these benefits to the Manipuris in addition to the Kukis. As a result, the ethnic tensions between these two groups rose and sometimes turned violent.

During these conflicts and fights, more than 225 people have been killed and around 60,000 have been displaced. The number of victims of recent violence between these two groups is the highest number of victims in one day in their conflicts. The clashes started early last week, and drones carrying explosives have also been used!

Police say that the Kuki militia may have used these drones, but they have denied this claim.
