Russian forces have been trying to deal with the invasion of Ukrainians since August 6th, at the same time as the surprise attack of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region. This is considered the biggest attack on Russian soil since World War II.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia has announced that the forces of this country have removed the two residential areas of “Uspenovka” and “Borki” from the possession of Ukraine and have regained control over it. These two villages are located at a distance of 20 kilometers from the common border with Ukraine in the “Third” region.
One of the senior commanders and pro-Russian military bloggers claimed last week that the country’s forces have taken control of about 10 residential areas.
On the other hand, Ukraine claims that it has control over a hundred villages in the Kursk region in an area of more than 1,300 square kilometers; An issue that Russian sources deny.
Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to advance towards Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine. This area is an important logistics and rail transportation center for Ukrainian forces. The complete capture of this region is considered a big step towards the realization of Moscow’s main goal, which is the capture of the entire Donetsk region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed on Friday that the country’s attack on Kursk has slowed down the advance of Russian forces in eastern Ukraine. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized that Kiev’s attack on Kursk has distracted Ukraine from the eastern front and weakened their forces and positions in the east.
