After two years; German chancellor wants to call Putin

German media announced that the chancellor of this country plans to have a telephone conversation with the Russian president before the G20 summit.

reportMehr news agency, citing Ryannews, German media announced that Olaf Schultz, the chancellor of this country, plans to talk and consult with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone after two years and before the G20 summit in Brazil in November.

After Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, the United States and Western countries weakened their relationship with Moscow and imposed severe sanctions against Russia. The last telephone conversation between the heads of Russia and Germany was in December 2022.

But German officials and Schultz himself have repeatedly not ruled out another phone conversation between the heads of Russia and Germany. The last time in June, Schultz announced his desire to have a telephone conversation with Putin.

At that time Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Russian government, in an interview with Ryanovsti announced that President Putin has no plans for a telephone conversation with the German chancellor.

In early September, Schultz announced that it was time to talk about how to speed up the end of the conflict in Ukraine. He also added that both he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed that Russia should to participate in the next summit about Ukraine.
