Putin met with Aliyev in the Kremlin
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Ryanovsti, Russian President Vladimir Putin met and talked with Azerbaijan President Elham Aliyev today on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States Summit.
According to this media, the process of normalizing the relations between the Republic of Armenia and Azerbaijan was the main focus of the conversation between Putin and Aliyev. After this meeting, Putin will meet Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia.
Azerbaijan and Armenia are working on the final stages of the peace treaty. Russia supports normalization between the two countries. On August 30, 2024, Baku and Yerevan signed the regulation of the joint activities of the border commissions of the two countries, and they are following the approval process of this document in the respective countries.
In October 2020, after the escalation of tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russia sent its peacekeeping forces to the Karabakh region. The withdrawal of these forces from the mentioned area was completed on June 12, 2024.
