UNRWA: One year of war has turned Gaza into a children’s cemetery
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted Al-Mayadeen, Philip Lazarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stated that families living in the Gaza Strip face indescribable daily sufferings of murder, forced displacement, disease and hunger as a result of the Zionist regime’s aggression.
Lazzarini declared that a year of extreme violence against the Gaza Strip has turned the region into a “graveyard for tens of thousands”. Palestinians, including a large number of children.
In his statement, he noted that a whole year has passed and the families living in Gaza continue to suffer indescribably on a daily basis. They struggle, where forced displacement, disease, hunger and death have become a daily reality for the two million people trapped in this devastated region.
Lazzarini added: “This bloody war has turned the Gaza Strip into a scene of unrecognizable destruction and a mass cemetery for It has turned tens of thousands of civilians, including many children.”
He declared that “the destruction of Gaza’s basic infrastructure has reached a catastrophic level”, adding : “In Gaza, civilians continue to pay the biggest price of the war.”
Lazzarini pointed to the suffering of Gaza’s children, saying that they “bear the brunt of all the effects of this violence.” . Not only do they suffer physical injuries, but every child in Gaza suffers from deep psychological scars, many of which are permanent. More than 650,000 children have lost a full year of their education”.
These statements of Lazzarini came after one year of the Zionist regime’s invasion of the Gaza Strip with the support of the United States; An aggression that led to the martyrdom and wounding of about 139,000 Palestinians and the disappearance of more than 10,000 people, while international institutions and international courts of justice have failed to prevent the Zionist regime’s genocidal crimes against the Gaza Strip.
