Reuters wrote that on the eve of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang’s arrival to attend the four-day bilateral meetings as well as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, security measures have been intensified in Pakistan’s capital.

According to Reuters, schools and businesses will also be closed during this three-day holiday, and large units of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan, the army forces of this country will be responsible for securing the “red zone” of the capital where most of the meetings are held.

On the eve of this summit and especially after the killing of two Chinese engineers and 12 mining workers in the recent attacks by armed men in Pakistan, the level of security threats has increased in this country.

Islamabad has also sought to limit the movement of Chinese nationals in this city, citing fears about violent attacks by separatist militias. The 23rd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which consists of 9 permanent members (Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan), will be held tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in Islamabad, according to the previous schedule. According to Reuters, the first vice president of Iran will also participate in this meeting.
