Although no group has claimed responsibility for this attack, this province located in the southwest of Pakistan has seen an increase in attacks by ethnic militia groups. During one of these incidents, 21 miners were killed in a private coal mine.
Security forces, government and Chinese engineers who are involved in infrastructure projects in the inflamed region of Baluchistan, Pakistan, have always been the target of armed attacks by separatist groups.
The spokesperson of the local government of Balochistan said in a statement that the five dead and two injured in this incident were working at the construction site of the dam in Panjgur. According to a police official, more than 10 attackers were involved in this incident and the victims were also in charge of guarding the equipment at the dam construction site.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in a statement that “such cowardly attacks will not hinder the government’s will to develop Balochistan.”
