Ukraine’s goal was to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Rashatodi, Igor Krylov, the commander of the radio, chemical and biological defense forces of the Russian armed forces, says that one of the goals of Ukraine’s August attack on the Kursk region of Russia was to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant. This power plant is located about 60 kilometers from the border of Russia and Ukraine.
Russian military forces have largely contained Kursk since the Ukrainian attack.
Krylov claimed that the Ministry of Defense of Russia obtained a report from the National Emergency Services Organization of Ukraine, in which it was claimed that there is no threat of nuclear contamination of the country following this operation. According to him, in this document it is emphasized (!) that “in the event of a possible accident, due to the direction of the wind, only the Russian Federation will be exposed to radioactive contamination.”
The senior Russian defense official emphasized: However, there is a possibility that the situation will turn out according to a completely different scenario. In fact, in the event of a large-scale accident at the nuclear power plant (Kursk), radioactive materials will spread in a significant part of Europe; Just like the accident that happened to the Chernobyl power plant.
