Critic of military aid to Ukraine, Trump’s choice for the position of Attorney General
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Rashatodi, Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States of America, today chose “Matt Gates” as the attorney general of his new administration. Gathez is known for his open criticism of Washington’s arms supply to Kiev.
By publishing a message on his social network known as Social Truth, Trump emphasized the need to deal with what he called the partisan arming of the American justice system.
He further wrote: Matt will end armed government, border protection, destroy criminal organizations, and restore American trust and faith in the Department of Justice, which has been badly hit.
Gates also wrote on the X social network praising Trump that he is proud of his duty in this important position.
In February 2024, Gates and several other conservative lawmakers expressed concern about the allocation of arms aid to Ukraine. According to them, the current support for Ukraine has only led to the prolongation of the war and does not provide any clear path towards a solution.
Gates’ position on Ukraine was also quite clear during the speech of the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, to the US Congress in 2022. Despite the fact that all his colleagues in the Congress were standing as a sign of respect, he did not get up.
