Agreement between Trump’s transition team and the US Department of Justice to issue security access
According to Mehr News Agency to According to Reuters, according to the announcement of the transition team of Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, following the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Justice of this country, the process of submitting the names of the officials of the transition team and suitable candidates for checking the background and security clearances has begun.
The FBI plays a key role in the transition of power from the previous administration to the next, conducting background checks and processing security clearances for favorable candidates and transition team officials. These officials, known as deployed teams, are stationed in federal institutions and organizations before the preparation of the inauguration ceremony.
Trump’s transition team announced in a statement: This process will finally provide sufficient information and data for the purpose of transferring power and will facilitate the work of our established teams to access the information needed to prepare federal agencies and offices for future managers.
Trump’s transition team and the current US President Joe Biden’s administration signed a memorandum of understanding on November 26 in order to activate the full transfer of power. However, transition team members need security clearances in order to access classified information. The aforementioned memorandum was supposed to be signed on October 1. The delay in signing this memorandum raised concerns about the Trump team’s possible decision to bypass FBI security checks.
Trump has always openly talked about his distrust of the Department of Justice and the FBI and has recently nominated “Kesh Patel” to head this intelligence agency, which means that he definitely intends to remove its current director.
Despite signing the background check and security clearance agreement, Trump’s transition team has refused to sign a third agreement with the US General Services Administration (GSA). This institution is responsible for providing the necessary budget, office space and technology. Signing this agreement requires an ethical agreement. Trump’s team instead announced that it would use a “drafted ethics plan and publish it on the organization’s website.”
