aftershocks of the failed military regime; South Korea’s interior minister resigned
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by AFP, according to local media reports, “Lee Sang-min”, the Minister of the Interior of South Korea, resigned in the midst of the developments after the announcement of the failed military rule in this country.
The local newspaper JoongAng Ilbo wrote that South Korea’s interior minister has resigned from his position while “accepting responsibility for failing to properly serve the people and the president.”
According to this newspaper, Yoon Suk-yul, the president of South Korea, has also accepted his resignation. South Korea’s president and interior minister are among the people who are under investigation on charges of rebellion after the declaration of a brief and unsuccessful martial law last Tuesday.
Yoon Seok-yul escaped the impeachment motion of the opposition parties yesterday (Saturday), but Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the ruling “People Power” party, announced that the president would no longer be in power before resigning early. The domestic and foreign affairs of South Korea will not be involved.
Earlier, the South Korean Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of Kim Yong-Hyun, the resigned Minister of Defense of this country. Kim is banned from leaving now.
