Washington Post’s claim: Assad had rejected the deal with America to stop cooperation with Iran

An American media revealed more details of Bashar al-Assad's rejection of the US to stop cooperation with Iran.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted Russia Elium, the American Washington Post newspaper citing the statements of “Bassam Barbandi” the former diplomat of the Syrian government claimed that Bashar Assad, the former president of Syria, did not accept the American proposal to stop cooperation with Iran before the fall of his government.

This Syrian diplomat r continued his claim and told the American newspaper: America through Mediators from the UAE suggested that the US sanctions be gradually lifted in exchange for Damascus cutting off logistical support from Iran and preventing aid from being sent to Hezbollah through Syrian territory. But Assad rejected this offer.

The newspaper also added that the US made this proposal just a few weeks before the massive attack by the opposition forces of Assad.

Washington Post announced that, in addition, Assad proposed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He did not accept the normalization of relations between the two countries.

According to this proposal, Erdogan asked for Assad’s cooperation to curb the Kurdish groups and return some of the Syrian refugees to their country.

Washington Post wrote in the end: These actions, especially the rejection of cooperation with Turkey, have been described as important factors in aggravating the critical situation of the Assad regime.
