America’s continued efforts to disrupt Russia’s oil revenues
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Tass, Janet Yellen, the US Treasury Secretary, said that Washington will take any effective measures to strengthen and support Ukraine, including disrupting Russia’s oil revenues. .
Yellen said in a conversation with Reuters: There are many possibilities here. We don’t anticipate sanctions, but we always pay attention to oil revenues, and if we can find a way to disrupt Russia’s oil revenues as much as possible, such a way will strengthen Ukraine. Therefore, it is still an option on our table.
He added that Washington and its allies will probably also consider the option of reducing the Russian oil price ceiling.
The European Union imposed sanctions on Russian oil products on December 5, 2022. The G7/G7 countries, the European Union and Australia imposed a price ceiling of $60 per barrel for Russian oil. From February 5, 2023, similar restrictions were applied to Russian oil products, and depending on the type of product, the price ceiling was set at $100 and $45.
