The head of the Russian Investigative Committee contacted the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan about the plane crash
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Sputnik, Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the investigation committee of the Russian Federation, discussed with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan about the crash of this country’s passenger plane in Kazakhstan.
Bastrykin, referring to making this call, said that the experienced staff of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation are involved in the investigation of the plane crash.
He said that during this call, the parties specified the main tasks within the framework of the joint investigation plan regarding the crash of the Azerbaijan State Airline Company and expressed readiness for more comprehensive cooperation.
Bastrykin added that complex research measures are underway and the aim of this research is to present and investigate all the causes and conditions leading to this tragedy.
Embraer 190 passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines crashed on December 25 on the way from Baku to Grozny, near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. At the time of the accident, this plane had 67 passengers, including 62 passengers, most of whom were Azerbaijani citizens, and among them there were citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as five crew members.
According to the latest reports, 38 people including seven Russian citizens were killed in this accident and 29 people were saved.
The office of the President of Russia announced yesterday that the President of this country, Vladimir Putin, consulted with his Kazakh counterpart, Kassem Jomart Toqayev, regarding the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane.
The Russian president also apologized to Ilham Aliyev, his Azeri counterpart, for the downing of the Azerbaijan plane in Russian airspace during a phone call.
