“Marhef Abu Qusra” became the Minister of Defense of the Jolani government

report Mehr News Agency quoted by Russia Today, the Syrian military operations command announced the name of the new Syrian defense minister on Tuesday.

The command of military operations in Syria announced that Marhef Abu Qasra has become the defense minister of the new transitional government of Syria.

Abu Qasra was born in the city of Halfaya in Hama province and has a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Agriculture of Damascus University.

Abu Qusra worked as the commander-in-chief of the military branch of Tahrir al-Sham and is considered one of the most prominent commanders of the military operations department.

The General Command of the Syrian Army announced the promotion of the Minister of Defense “Marhef Abu Qasra” to the rank of Major General and the promotion of about 50 other officers.

Previously, the interim government of Syria appointed Mohammad al-Faisal as its official spokesman. Al-Faisal, also known as Muhammad Faisal Al-Aqla, is from Hass village in the south of Idlib. He was born in a rural environment and quickly became one of the most prominent media voices against the Assad government.

Al-Faisal studied in Idlib and participated in covering popular protests and humanitarian conditions in northern Syria since the beginning of the demonstrations against the Assad government in 2011. He worked as a reporter for “Orient” channel and was involved in covering the battles, protests and the humanitarian situation in northern Syria. After the closing of “Orient” offices, al-Faisal continued his independent media work and gained a lot of respect in the Syrian media community.
