According to a source in the Russian oil and gas industry, the country’s energy giant, Gazprom, predicted last year had stopped gas transmission through Ukraine. Russia’s gas transmission lines through Ukraine account for almost half of Moscow’s total gas exports through pipelines.
However, Russia continues to export gas through the Turkstream pipeline on the Black Seabed. Trackstream has two lines; One for the domestic market of Türkiye and the other for the buyers of central Europe such as Hungary and Serbia.
Gazprom wrote in a statement: Due to the repeated and obvious refusal of the Ukrainian side to renew these contracts, Gazprom was deprived of the technical and legal ability to supply gas for transmission through the territory of Ukraine from January 1, 2025.
