Wearing the burqa is banned in Switzerland

The Swiss government plans to consider fines for wearing face veils in this country.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency, citing Sputnik, the Swiss government is considering banning the wearing of the burqa in this country.

According to media reports, the ban on wearing the burqa in Switzerland is enforced with a fine of up to 1,100 dollars.

Switzerland has reportedly banned the wearing of face-covering clothing, including the niqab, burqa, in public places from January 1, 2025, and a fine for guaranteeing Its implementation is considered.

The new law was enacted following a 2021 referendum in which 51.2 percent of voters supported the measure.

Previously, France, Austria, Belgium and Denmark imposed similar bans on wearing the face veil.
