Switzerland has reportedly banned the wearing of face-covering clothing, including the niqab, burqa, in public places from January 1, 2025, and a fine for guaranteeing Its implementation is considered.
The new law was enacted following a 2021 referendum in which 51.2 percent of voters supported the measure.
Previously, France, Austria, Belgium and Denmark imposed similar bans on wearing the face veil.
