Experts say that the freezing of oil and gas wells and transmission pipes will lead to a decrease in the supply of energy carriers in the United States.
Statistics of the American Energy Information Agency show that 43% of the total electricity produced in this country, along with the heating of 45% of the American people’s homes, is supplied by gas consumption.
On the other hand, increasing demand and decreasing supply can lead to higher gas and electricity prices across the United States.
The Gabler Institute has warned that with a sharp drop in temperature, it is possible to harvest from the fields of the Appalachia and the Rocky region.
U.S. gas production is equivalent to 105 billion cubic feet per day, one-third of which comes from the Appalachia gas fields in Pennsylvania. Ohio and West Virginia are harvested.
Last year’s winter and a few days after the beginning of 2024, the occurrence of frost led to a decrease of 16.5 billion cubic feet of American gas production.
