The latest position of the Iraqi Interior Minister regarding the country’s borders with Syria
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Al-Arabiya, Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari said that all border crossings with Syria are still closed.
He added: Iraq will not allow infiltration from Syria to Iraq or vice versa. Some terrorist groups are still active inside Syria.
The Iraqi Interior Minister, referring to the establishment of important fortifications along the borders of Iraq and Syria, said that security measures along the borders with Syria have been strengthened after the recent developments.
Al-Shammari pointed out that the Syrian forces are not present in the southern part of the border, and said that the border checkpoints in the southern part of the border with Syria are still empty.
The Minister of the Interior of Iraq mentioned the plan to build a wall along the border between Iraq and Syria and spoke about the measures to complete this wall.
