Riyadh’s latest action in the field of uranium enrichment

Abd al-Aziz bin Salman, the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, announced this Monday that the country plans to financially exploit all mines, including uranium mines.

In a news conference in the city of Dhahran in eastern Arabia, he announced that the country will move in the direction of enriching uranium and selling it, as well as producing yellow cake.

Al Jazeera reported: The yellow cake refers to raw uranium powder free of impurities, which is used to produce fuel for nuclear reactors. Saudi Arabia is now trying to develop its nascent nuclear program, and the words of the country’s energy minister about uranium enrichment and yellow cake production indicate the existence of new plans for the development of the nuclear energy sector in Saudi Arabia. The development of the Saudi nuclear program is part of the 2030 vision with the aim of diversifying Saudi energy sources and reducing dependence on oil.
