Belarus’s interest in joining the new BRICS Development Bank
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by BRICS TV, “Sergei Lukashevich”, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, announced the country’s interest in joining the new BRICS Development Bank.
This Belarusian diplomat, in a meeting with Dilma Rousseff, head of the New Development Bank (NDB) in Shanghai, discussed the need to develop financial mechanisms in BRICS, as well as the prospect of Belarus joining New Development Bank emphasized.
Rossev previously announced that the National Development Bank plans to use national currencies to invest in the private sector of BRICS economies. According to him, among the bank’s priorities are sustainable development and technology transfer, as well as expansion of activities among member countries.
The new development bank was established by the BRICS member states in Brazil in 2014 to finance infrastructure projects.
