According to Mehr News Agency to According to Al-Arabiya network, the US Senate approved the appointment of Christie Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security and gave him a key role in crisis management and immigration policies.
Noem, who is in his second term as governor of South Dakota, managed to win the support of some Democrats on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. This committee approved his nomination with 13 votes in favor against 2 votes against.
Republicans, who already had the necessary votes to confirm him, expressed confidence in his ability to lead border security and immigration enforcement.
John Tone, the Republican majority leader in the Senate, announced on Friday: Fixing this crisis and restoring respect for the rule of law is one of the top priorities of President Trump and the Republicans.
He added: This mission needs decisive and committed leadership in the Ministry of Internal Security. I believe that Noem has all the necessary conditions to perform this task.”
