70 people died after an attack on a hospital in Sudan
reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Telegraph, Tedros Adhanom, Director General of the World Health Organization wrote in a message on “X” channel that during the attack on the only active hospital in the besieged city of “Al Fasher” in Sudan, about 70 people were killed.
Authorities and other civilians in North Darfur province have also announced a similar figure, but Adhanom is the first international source to announce the number of victims.
He wrote: The horrific attack on the Saudi hospital in al-Fasher, Sudan, led to the death of 70 people, including patients and their companions. At the time of the attack, the hospital was full of patients being treated.
Adhanom did not identify the perpetrator of the attack, but local authorities have declared the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) responsible for the attack. RSF has not yet claimed responsibility for this attack, but in recent days, it had threatened to attack al-Fasher city.
The war in Sudan between the army of this country and the rapid support forces broke out over the formation of a transitional council and the holding of free elections in April last year. The United Nations says that about 25 million people (half of Sudan’s population) are in dire need of aid and are at risk of starvation, and about eight million people have fled their homes.
