The violence was in the midst of protests in Congo that led foreign countries due to the crisis of insurgent attacks called “M1” to the east of the country. They blamed the culprit. Protesters stormed the French embassy, ​​the embassy burned and damaged its property.

Embassies of other countries, including Belgium and the US, were also targeted by angry protesters in Congo.
