A 5 % increase in Russian oil exports from the Arctic route

Russia's oil and LNG exports to the Arctic Sea have increased by 5 %, but sanctions and the shortage of frostbite ships have created challenges for its future.

reports Track Winds , LNG gas is the main export cargo export through the Arctic Sea that accounts for nearly 2 % of the total Russian export volume.

, according to the report, Russian crude oil export from the route increased by four percent to 4.3 million tonnes or about 2 million barrels a year. These figures are expected to grow significantly in the next decade, as the big oil project Western will be implemented in the next 5 to 6 months, and Russia could have exported 5 million tonnes of cargo annually in the 1980s.

, however, Russian gas condensate exports rose by 5 % to 1.5 million tonnes. Unlike crude oil and LNG, Russian gas condensate has not yet attracted public opinion.

Russian ice tanks carry about 2 cargoes annually from the LNG factory Navatk to Western Europe. Russia also managed to load three cargoes from the North Pole LNG plant in the fall and deliver to the Port of Vietino Russia in the White Sea. These facilities are connected to the Russian rail network and allow transportation, including possible export to Western markets.

Over the past year, the total volume of Russian cargo shipments along the North Sea route has set a new record. Prior to the war with Ukraine and its subsequent sanctions by the West, the North Pole LNG 2 was on the way to send 2 million Tons of LNG by the year 5, but with the continued Western sanctions, its export figures were reduced.

in year 6, Russian President had predicted that the shipment of cargo along the NSR (North Sea route) would reach 5 million tonnes by year 2 and 5 million tonnes. But the Russian -Ukraine war and the West’s sanctions threats were practically influential on export.

, on the other hand, the lack of LNG carriers and ice-free oil tankers also make Russia’s transportation capacity through the North Sea for the coming years, as Russian shipbuilders are trying to replace lost capacity in Asian yards. However, in the summer months, LNG carriers and container ships from the Arctic are expected to increase cargo traffic.
