al-Abadi added that the gas import agreement from Turkmenistan, which will soon enter the executive phase, allows Iraq to import 2 million cubic meters per day, thus offset part of the possible shortage of gas imports from Iran.
“We are trying to increase electricity production using alternative sources such as solar and gas extracted along with oil and other methods,” said the spokesman about Iraq’s strategy to reduce dependence on imported gas.
